The Bulldogs have played an exciting series this year. After losing game 3 with a score of 4-1 on Monday, the Alberni Valley Bulldogs recovered and are going to Victoria tonight to play in the series-deciding game. One of our Huu-ay-aht citizens and a top-notch player, Dylan Haugen, is playing tonight and we wish him the best of luck in this grudge match. After two seasons with the Oceanside Generals in the Vancouver Island Hockey League Dylan Haugen was called up last year to play for his local team as an energetic role-player. Dylan Haugen has performed very well on the penalty-kill squad this season and has six goals and seven assists for his first full season with the Bulldogs.
Dylan also had the opportunity to try out for the Nanaimo Clippers but having the opportunity to play for his home team was an easy decision.
Jaden Warner, 8-year old ultra-hockey fan, asked if he is related to Dylan. When told that he is a relative, he said, “I think I’m pretty lucky… I’m lucky that I’m related to him and he’s playing for the team that we’re cheering for.” Huu-ay-aht First Nations is proud to see Dylan Haugen working hard at something he enjoys and we hope the Bulldogs play a great game tonight.
