BRAD JOHNSON, traditional name Wiiheyakchikk is in his first full term as a member of the executive council for Huu-ay-aht First Nations, a modern treaty nation located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
Brad joined council in 2022, voted in during a by-elections. During that time, he held the portfolios for Treaty Implementation, Capital Projects and Infrastructure, Co-operative Management Board, and Education and Training.
Brad’s late Grandparents are Kenny and Joan Johnson. He is the son of Coral and Kenneth Paul Johnson. Brad grew up in Grappler Creek majority of his life. Currently, he resides in Port Alberni with his wife and two young children. Brad grew up living off the land, hunting, fishing, and learning his culture.
Prior to being elected in the Huu-ay-aht by-election 2022, Brad spent the past 20 years in the logging industry. For the last 16 years, he has dedicated himself to working for the Huu-ay-aht Group of Businesses working on a dryland sort at Spencer Creek and Sarita. Through his experience, Brad will bring a strong work ethic, goal orientated, loyalty, and honesty to support in making decisions as a Councillor for his Nation and future generations.
Brad looks forward to continue working alongside the other Executive Council members to be part of a strong team to support a growing Nation.
