Last week, we launched a new Facebook page to share news and information from Huu-ay-aht First Nations government.
Because we are a government organization and not an individual, using a Profile under “Uyaqhmis” to post news and updates to the existing Huu-ay-aht First Nations Facebook group violates Facebook’s Terms of Reference. For this reason, Facebook can shut down the Uyaqmis profile at any point without notice. If we were to continue to use this profile and it did get shut down, we would temporarily be unable to communicate important news to HFN citizens using Facebook. For this reason, the Huu-ay-aht First Nations page will be replacing our profile. The Huu-ay-aht First Nations Group, which has over 600 members, will be left in place to provide a forum for discussion between HFN members.
This coming fall, the Uyaqhmis profile will be shut down completely, meaning that no news will be posted to the HFN group. If you want to know about the location of upcoming Community Rounds, where and when fish distribution will be happening, and other important information, please visit and “Like” our Facebook Page (which can be found at http://ow.ly/zGz0T), regularly.
In just one week, over 130 followers have liked our new Page! If you haven’t already, it’s as simple as following the link above, clicking “Like” and the Page will be added to your newsfeed. If you “like” our new Page during the month of August, you will be eligible to win prizes through our weekly #HFNpride contest. Simply “Like” the page, answer the contest question posed for that week, and if your comment receives the most likes before the contest deadline, you win! Prizes will vary week by week, please see the HFN Facebook page for more details.
Thank you for your understanding as we make this transition to the new Huu-ay-aht First Nations Facebook Page. Remember to visit regularly for up-to-date news and events.
