The Huu-ay-aht First Nations 2025 Elk Draw is now open for citizen applications!

We are using this online form for draw applications. Paper applications are available at both Port Alberni and Anacla Offices. If you have any challenges or questions, please email at amelia.v@huuayaht.org.

Application deadline is Thursday August 7th, 2025 at 12pm noon.

Criteria for eligibility for this draw are:

  • Have a valid Huu-ay-aht Harvesting Card checked off for hunting.
  • Be enrolled as a Huu-ay-aht Citizen.
  • Have a current Possession & Acquisition License (PAL – formerly called Firearms Acquisition Certificate, FAC).
  • Must have passed and have a certificate for the B.C. Hunter Training Program (CORE – Conservation & Outdoor Recreation Education). If you were over the age of 19 on the Effective Date of Treaty (April 1, 2011), you are exempt from this requirement (i.e. birthdate BEFORE April 1, 1992).
  • Were not selected as HFN’s Elk Draw winner last year.
  • If you were the successful elk hunter in a previous year, you must have made your required hind-quarter contribution back to the Nation. If you did not, you are not eligible for the draw for 5 years.

The harvest area will be in the Klanawa Watershed (Elk Hunt Zone 1- 03B-Klanawa) which is within the Maa-nulth Wildlife Harvest Area.

The HFN Elk season will run September 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
Application deadline is Thursday August 7th, 2025 at noon.

HFN is dedicated to providing resource harvest information and access to registered HFN citizens. To complete your harvest card application and get a harvest card go to our website to access the form or pick up an application form at our Port Alberni or Anacla Government office.
