As a result of the three-way tie in the regular Huu-ay-aht First Nations 2015 Election, Sheila Charles, Benny Clappis and Jack Cook are currently participating in a run-off election for the final two seats on Huu-ay-aht Executive Council.

In order to keep citizens informed before the vote on Saturday, July 18, two All-Candidates Meeting will be held prior to the election.

On Thursday, July 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. candidates will debate the issues at the House of Huu-ay-aht in Anacla. The following night, Friday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., the All-Candidates Meeting will take place in Port Alberni at the Best Western Barclay Hotel. If you cannot attend any of the All-Candidates Meetings, the Port Alberni session will be filmed and shared with Citizens. Election Commissioner Kit Spence will run the meetings, which will follow the same format as the previous events. It will begin with a brief opening statement from each of the candidates for Councillor. That will be followed by questions from the public and a brief summary from candidates.

Child minding will be supplied at all of the All-Candidates Meetings, and there will be snacks and refreshments available.

The Run-off Election will take place on Saturday, July 18. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Anacla at the House of Huu-ay-aht and in Port Alberni at the Best Western Barclay Hotel.
