Huu-ay-aht names Trudy Warner Executive Director

Huu-ay-aht First Nations Executive Council is pleased to announce they have selected Trudy Warner as the new Executive Director for the Nation.

“After carrying out an extensive search, we are pleased to be able to offer this important position to a Huu-ay-aht citizen who is extremely well qualified to lead the Nation,” explains Chief Councillor Robert J. Dennis Sr. “Trudy brings a long list of skills and has proven time and again that she is committed and passionate about her Nation. We believe under her leadership the government will continue to excel and serve the needs of its citizens.”

Trudy has been filling the role as acting Executive Director for approximately six months, and executive council believes this will mean the transition will be a smooth one for both staff and citizens. She brings with her many years of working as a consultant in leadership and communications, including working on many projects for her Nation. She was instrumental in the Nations’ efforts to ratify the Maa-nulth Treaty. She earned her Masters in Leadership and a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University.

“I am both honoured and looking forward to the challenges the role of Executive Director offers me,” she says. “This is an exciting time for our Nation, and I look forward to working with Executive Council and staff to build a strong future for Huu-ay-aht. My goal is to help make the quality of life better for our people. Together we will continue to grow, evolve and succeed.”

After the position was posted for approximately one month, Executive Council narrowed the list of candidates down from twelve to three. After a panel interview process with Executive Council, Trudy was the successful candidate.
