As a result of the three-way tie in the regular Huu-ay-aht First Nations 2015 Election, Sheila Charles, Benny Clappis and Jack Cook are currently participating in a run-off election for the final two seats on Huu-ay-aht Executive Council.

In order to keep citizens informed before the vote on Saturday, July 18, two All-Candidates Meeting will be held prior to the election.

On Thursday, July 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. candidates will debate the issues at the House of Huu-ay-aht in Anacla. The following night, Friday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., the All-Candidates Meeting will take place in Port Alberni at the Best Western Barclay Hotel. If you cannot attend any of the All-Candidates Meetings, the Port Alberni session will be filmed and shared with Citizens. The Port Alberni live stream can be found at https://livestream.com/VITVca2441774/events/4196496.

Election Commissioner Kit Spence will run the meetings, which will follow the same format as the previous events. It will begin with a brief opening statement from each of the candidates for Councillor. That will be followed by questions from the public and a brief summary from candidates.

Child minding will be supplied at all of the All-Candidates Meetings, and there will be snacks and refreshments available.
